Emergency Dental Care
Dental emergencies are a fact of life. Even if you are oral-health conscious, you can chip or break a tooth as a result of an injury. When this happens, your first priority would be to get help as quickly as possible.
At Elegant Smiles Dentistry, we know how upsetting an emergency can be. For this reason, we always leave extra time in our schedule so we can make your emergency a priority. Our goal is to get you the relief you need as quickly as possible to ease your discomfort and protect your oral health.
What’s Your Dental Emergency?
We treat all problems as soon as possible, but there are some situations where you may not need to drop everything to run to our office. When you call us, a knowledgeable member of our team will evaluate your needs to determine the severity of your emergency and how quickly you should be seen.
Common Emergencies We Treat
Some of the most common emergencies we treat are:
- Dental pain
- Infected root canals
- Severe decay
- Loose or broken restorations
We’ll Provide the Relief You Need
If you are in pain, please call us right away, even if it’s only mild discomfort. Tooth pain of any kind is a sign that something serious is happening with the tooth, and it should be identified and addressed as quickly as possible before the situation escalates. Our first goal is to relieve your pain and then get to the source of the problem before it becomes complicated to treat and threatens your oral health.
Depending on the procedure you have had, Dr. K will give you his cell number so you can reach him as needed.
How to Handle a Knocked-Out Tooth
A knocked-out tooth is a serious emergency that needs to be treated immediately. There’s a small window of time during which the tooth can be replaced in the socket successfully.
If this happens to you, call us and we’ll see you right away. Be sure to keep the tooth moist in milk, water, or saliva, and take care not to disturb the root or any attached tissue. If your jaw is injured or you experience excessive bleeding, we will recommend you go to the emergency room, where they’re equipped to deal with this type of trauma.
How to Avoid Many Dental Emergencies
You can't anticipate every emergency, but you can minimize the risk by keeping current with your regularly scheduled appointments at Elegant Smiles Dentistry. During these appointments, Dr. K will look for signs of decay that could result in tooth pain in the future. He will also check restorations like fillings and crowns to make sure they are secure and haven’t been compromised.
